Item 0078: Strap Connecter

Size | 78 mm x 63 mm | |
Weight | 68.4 gram | |
Material | Bronze | |
Description | This cast item has been identified as a balteus connecter, but it's heavy build suggests it has an equine use. The three loops would each hold a leather strap. The two raised nubs once held an attachment that was allowed to swivel freely. The reverse is flat. The possibility exists that this may be from a much later date, though all three examples have been found on purely roman sites.
